Candida

   Posted by: Tamra   in Uncategorized

For years I have fought Candida and have come up with a regimen that works for me.  Every body is different, but I hope that if you are suffering from the effects of Candida, you can find something here to help you.

Pregnancy and nursing always seem to upset my Candida balance.  Usually a few months after giving birth I’ll go on the strict diet for a few weeks along with all the supplements.

Also, a word of advice.  Please just go whole hog right off the bat.  Dabble a little with fighting Candida and you’re not doing anything.  It’s all or nothing.  It may sound difficult.  So what.  Do it and get better.

Diet - for 4 to 12 weeks
Only meats, vegetables (except corn, peas and carrots) and eggs.
No grains, no starch, no sugar (including maple syrup, agave and honey), no fruit.  NO EXCEPTIONS FOR AT LEAST THE FIRST FOUR WEEKS.
Some nuts and beans are okay if I need other protein, but sparingly.

After about 4 to 6 weeks I sometimes add a little brown rice, red potatoes and plain oat bran.

I add foods back in slowly one at a time, keeping careful watch on my body’s reaction. If I feel any imbalance at all, I remove the food again for a while.  Everybody’s reactions to Candida imbalance are different.  My most noticeable ones are achiness in the mornings around my neck and shoulders and irregular bowel movements.  If I’m breast feeding, it’s prickly redness and itching after nursing.

I also eat lots of lemons.  They turn alkaline in the body.  I squirt them into my water.

Other supplements
Most of these are through Young Living.  Hey, they work.

AlkaLime - This helps my body regain a more alkaline balance.  Yeast grows in an acid environment, and most of the foods we eat are acidic.  I take it first thing in the morning and at bedtime.

Essential oils - I have personally only used Melaleuca alternifolia and Australian Blue.  7 drops of each in a capsule twice a day.
Through further reading, I would now take Melrose.

Essentialzyme - I have found that things get better more quickly when I’m taking something that helps break down my food.  I take with every meal.
Digest + Cleanse is a newer product that may work even better.

Life 5 - A good probiotic is important to help balance bacteria levels.  I take this after supper.

Other helpful things are garlic, homeopathics and lots of water.
